April saw the CA holding its AGM along with both the Legal and All-Members’ Meetings at the Houses of Parliament. These very well-attended events set the scene for the year that has gone and the years to come in the conveyancing sector, with the CA setting out the significant amount of work it has carried out, and the key issues and solutions we’ll be pursuing, particularly throughout the rest of 2019.
High on the list is the changes to the leasehold sector and whether Commonhold might be used far more in the future, plus the meetings looked at key areas notably ID verification, fraud detection and how the sector engages with lenders in order to cut down on the number of post-offer queries. In other areas the CA remains heavily involved in the Home Buying & Selling Group plus the Conveyancing Task Force and will be providing regular updates on progress made in these areas.
