The Digital Conveyancing Maturity Index is a first for the industry, assessing the progress conveyancers are making in adopting technology that can improve the conveyancing process. The research was conducted by InfoTrack and supported by leading industry bodies including the Law Society, the CLC, the SLC, the Conveyancing Association, and LawNet.
Eden Conveyancing, a Bristol-based specialist, claimed the top spot in the index overall. They were among a number of firms whose adoption of digital tools and processes saw them rise to the top of the rankings. Wright & Lord Solicitors, with offices in Morecambe and Lancaster ranked in second place; Bell, Lamb & Joynson who have a presence in Liverpool, Warrington, and Runcorn came in third. Overall, there was a strong showing from small and medium-sized firms in the top rankings as well as an impressive representation from the North West in the top three.
The other firms ranking in the top three places in the subcategories of small (<25 employees), medium, large (200+ employees) or specialist (75%+ conveyancing) were Bookers & Bolton, Calthrops Solicitors, Chadwick Lawrence, Knights, Muve, and The Partnership. All these firms significantly outperformed the averages of the rest of the industry in the assessment of Client Onboarding, Pre- and Post-completion, and their use of CMS integrations and eSignatures.
InfoTrack Chief Operating Officer Sam Jordan commented:
”The research is fascinating and the response from both the digital conveyancing leaders, and those who are less far along, is a determination to do more. It’s also very pleasing to hear from the top firms that improving the experience for clients is as much of a driver for them as operational efficiencies.”
Bruce Griffin, CEO of top ranked firm Eden Conveyancing remarked:
“We invest in technology to help us deliver the best client experience and make life easier for our property lawyers, and so ranking first is an amazing achievement we’re very proud of. Integrating our platform with best of breed solutions has enabled us to do that. So, we’ll be continuing to adopt and promote new innovation and features that help make conveyancing a smooth and enjoyable experience for our clients.”
