National Trading Standards have launched a consumer infomercial to provide information on the changes and represent the first phase of the project, which aims to provide the essential details – referred to as ‘material information’ ‘Material information’ includes details about unavoidable costs such as council tax banding, sale price /rent amount, service charges and any deposit required if renting. If an agent fails to include this ‘material information’, it will flagged in the advertisement.

 

Having this essential information upfront will help save time and enable consumers to choose properties that are more likely to meet their needs, leading to more informed decision making and reducing the risk of transactions falling through, resulting in a less stressful process for all those involved in the sale, rental or purchase of a property.
